May Meeting - Chapter Brunch

June Meeting

Date: June 7, 2008

Time: 12:00 pm

Location: TRS, 11th Floor 44 East 32nd Street, New York

Speaker: Barbara Chernow, Author Beyond the Internet

Topic: Researching

In Beyond the Internet: Successful Research Strategies, Barbara Chernow, historian, encyclopedist, and reference book editor, challenges the perception that the Internet is a complete research tool. Although the Internet offers a seemingly limitless array of information, cyberspace does not provide all the resources one needs to learn about all subjects. According to Chernow, the majority of material on library and archive shelves is currently not available on the Internet. Such material includes documents, correspondence, and government records. Research is about using all of the resources at your disposal, and it does not come with just the click of a key or a mouse.

Date: Saturday, May 3

Time: 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Location: P.J. Clarke’s on the Hudson, 250 Vesey Street

Guest Speaker: Author Hope Tarr
