From its founding in 1986, Romance Writers of America/New York City, Inc. has been an inclusive organization that welcomes writers from all backgrounds and stages in their career. We have strived to promote excellence in romantic fiction and advance the professional interests of career-focused romance writers through networking, advocacy, dissemination of information, professional education, and publications. We also strive to provide support for writers within the romance publishing industry.
Over the years, we have hosted industry and business panels with editors, agents, marketing and media specialists, lawyers, and tax professionals. We have organized craft presentations with bestselling authors. And we run an annual contest for unpublished manuscripts.
We believe authors should embrace whatever publishing avenue works best for them. Therefore, we have authors who are traditional published, self-published and hybrid. Our members are published in full-length fiction, as well as shorter formats, in a broad array of sub-genres. They have also won numerous industry awards, including the RITA, Golden Heart Awards, and the Prism award. They appear on bestseller lists in the New York Times and USA Today, and on bestseller lists at Barnes & Noble and Amazon.com.
We welcome you to stop by a monthly Chapter meeting or drop us a line to find out more about joining our Chapter.
